Finding Answers When Your Cat Needs Them Most

Cats are notoriously private about how they feel, often hiding symptoms until a condition has progressed. That is why having access to thorough diagnostic care for cats is such an important part of keeping your feline healthy. At Pet Wellness Group, our diagnostic services are built to uncover what is happening beneath the surface, whether your cat is showing subtle changes at home or facing a more urgent concern.

From routine screenings during wellness visits to in-depth testing for sick or aging cats, our team uses modern tools and a careful, methodical approach to give you the clearest picture possible of your cat's health.

What Cat Diagnostic Care Includes

Cat diagnostic care in Hebron at Pet Wellness Group brings together a range of testing options under one roof, so we can evaluate your cat efficiently and accurately. Many of our diagnostics are performed in-house, which means faster results and quicker decisions when time matters most.

Depending on your cat's needs, diagnostic services may include:

  • Complete blood counts and chemistry panels
  • Urinalysis and urine culture testing
  • Fecal examinations for intestinal parasites
  • Thyroid hormone screening
  • Digital radiography (X-rays)
  • Ultrasound imaging for soft tissue evaluation
  • Cytology and biopsy sample analysis
  • Electrocardiograms (ECG) for heart function
  • Infectious disease testing, including FeLV and FIV

Bloodwork for a Closer Look at Your Cat's Health

  • Feline Combo Test – Screens for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), two serious viral infections that can affect your cat's long-term health.
  • Intestinal parasite screens – Fecal screens that test for hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms. These tests not only identify potential harmful parasites for your cat, but also those that can be passed on to you and your family.
  • Adult Wellness – As cats enter their adult years (5 to 6 years), we recommend annual wellness bloodwork to help identify early onset of illness that may not be apparent based on clinical signs or examination.
  • Senior Wellness – Similar to the Adult Wellness panel, we recommend a more comprehensive screen for senior cats (7 years and older). The Senior Wellness screen is a larger blood panel, along with a urinalysis, to evaluate kidney function and overall health.

Digital Imaging That Reveals What's Inside

  • Digital X-rays for evaluating bones, joints, chest, and abdomen
  • Ultrasound for assessing the heart, kidneys, liver, bladder, and other internal organs
  • Dental radiography to check below the gumline for hidden tooth and jaw issues

When Diagnostic Testing May Be Needed

  • Unexplained weight loss or gain
  • Changes in appetite or water intake
  • Vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation
  • Lethargy or decreased activity
  • Difficulty breathing or persistent coughing
  • Changes in litter box habits
  • Limping, stiffness, or trouble jumping
  • Unusual lumps, bumps, or skin changes
