A Natural Approach to Your Pet's Health
At Pet Wellness Group, we believe in offering well-rounded care that goes beyond traditional medicine. That is why we are excited to bring veterinary acupuncture to our Florence, KY, giving your pet access to a gentle, effective treatment option that works alongside their existing care.
Acupuncture is a practice that has been used for thousands of years to support health and relieve discomfort. It involves placing very thin needles at specific points on the body to encourage natural healing and improve how the body functions.
In veterinary medicine, acupuncture is used to help manage pain, reduce inflammation, and support overall well-being. It is safe, minimally invasive, and well tolerated by most pets.
What Can Acupuncture Help With
- Arthritis and joint pain
- Back and neck pain
- Muscle soreness or stiffness
- Recovery after surgery or injury
- Nerve damage or neurological conditions
- Chronic pain that has been hard to manage with medication alone
- Digestive issues
- Anxiety and stress
Is Acupuncture Safe for Pets
Yes. Veterinary acupuncture is a safe and gentle procedure when performed by a trained professional. Most pets tolerate it very well and many even become relaxed or drowsy during the session. The needles used are very fine and cause little to no discomfort.
Dr. Jennifer Bowen brings specialized training and a compassionate approach to every session, ensuring your pet feels as comfortable as possible throughout their treatment.
What to Expect During a Session
If you have never brought your pet for acupuncture before, here is a simple idea of what a typical visit looks like.
The first visit begins with a thorough consultation. Dr. Wilson will review your pet's health history, discuss your concerns, and assess which acupuncture points would be most beneficial for them.
During the session, your pet will be made comfortable, either lying down or resting in a relaxed position. Thin needles are placed gently at specific points on the body and left in place for a short period of time. Most sessions last between 20 and 45 minutes.
After the session, some pets feel relaxed and a little sleepy, while others may seem more energetic than usual. Both responses are completely normal. Dr. Wilson will let you know what to expect and how often your pet should return based on their individual needs.
